Thai and Osteothai Massage

Osteothai is the integration of osteopathic principles and techniques into Thai massage, a bridge between East and West. It is a form of physical activity that combines extraordinary creative and powerful Thai massage techniques with the precise and gentle touch of osteopathy. The spiritual roots of Thai Massage are a key feature that makes it stand out as a technique.

Thai Massage is a wondrous combination of energetic and physical "exercise" for the body and mind-spirit with benefits such as:
  • stress and pressure relief improving sleep and deep relaxation
  • relief of musculoskeletal pain in the most common cases (back, back, neck, shoulders, shoulders, legs, etc.)
  • improvement of joint mobility
  • improving posture and body alignment
  • activation and improvement of immune function
  • improves the function of the internal organs (digestive system, etc.) stimulates the activity of the nervous system
  • improves the functioning of the circulatory system
  • offers a new perception of the body and deep breathing
  • reconnects the energy of the body, mind and spirit
  • creates a sense of well-being and rejuvenation

  • Swedish massage

Swedish massage aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. This technique is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. Swedish massage may loosen up tight muscles caused by daily activities such as sitting at the computer or exercising

What happens during a Swedish massage?

During a Swedish massage the movements are long, deep, circular and passive movements of the joints are performed. These techniques are meant to:
  • relax you
  • stimulate nerve endings
  • increase blood flow and lymph drainage
  • A traditional Swedish massage involves the whole body. You will begin on either your back or your stomach and flip over at the halfway point. An oil or lotion can be used to allow for smooth and long strokes.

    Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but it goes deeper and is intended for a different purpose.
This massage is best suited for:
  • athletes
  • runners
  • people with injuries
  • It can also work for people with chronic pain conditions such as:
  • fibromyalgia
  • back pain
  • This technique targets the inner layers:
  • muscle
  • tendons
  • peritoneum, or dense connective tissue

  • Deep massage uses many of the movements of Swedish massage, but there is much more pressure. This pressure can sometimes be painful. To get to the deep muscle tissue, we will massage layer by layer of muscle, applying more and more pressure and using special techniques with our fingers, fists and maybe even elbows to reach and stretch this deep tissue.

This type of massage facilitates healing by releasing the contracted areas of muscle and tissue. It can help increase blood flow to the soft tissues and can help reduce inflammation.

What happens during a deep tissue massage?

Before a deep tissue massage, we will discuss the affected areas of the body. A deep tissue massage can be full body or focused on just one area. It usually begins as a more traditional relaxation massage. After the muscles have warmed up, we begin to work deep into the affected areas.

In addition to the palms, fingertips and joints, we may use the forearms or elbows to increase the pressure. It is important to be open about the level of pressure and discomfort you wish to endure. This may be different for certain areas of the body and throughout the massage. For the next two days there will be pain in the areas worked on. Feel free to communicate before and during the massage.

    Lymphatic massage

Lymphatic massage is a technique that works on the lymphatic system, stimulating it to work quickly to speed up the process of removing accumulated fluid. Lymphatic massage is done all over the body by insisting on problems such as cellulite, swellings and localized thickness.

The lymphatic system is responsible for cleansing the body. It is made up of vessels, nodes and organs that work together to facilitate the proper flow of lymph, remove waste and direct it to organs responsible for flushing it out of the body.

Some of the benefits of lymphatic massage are that:
  • Stimulates blood circulation and tissue regeneration
  • Directs and increases lymph flow
  • Reduces swelling and water retention
  • Improves the immune system due to the elimination of toxins
  • Minimizes the appearance of cellulite by reducing the amount of fluid that presses on the cross fibers under your skin, etc.
  • Prenatal massage

Prenatal massage is tailored to the anatomical changes you go through during pregnancy. In a traditional massage, you may spend half the time lying face down on your stomach (which is not possible with a pregnancy belly) and half the time looking up (a position that puts pressure on your back and also on an important blood vessel, which can disrupt blood flow to your baby and cause nausea).

But as your body's shape and posture changes, a trained massage therapist will make adjustments with special pillow systems or holes that allow you to lie face down safely while providing space for your growing belly and breasts. Or you can lie on your side with pillow and cushion support.

Prenatal massages are generally considered safe after the first trimester, as long as you get the go-ahead from your doctor and let your therapist know about your pregnancy.
